Friday Cocktail - Cinco de Mayo
Blogtender: Margarita
Easy choice this fine Friday. There are so many variations that I'm not going to retype them. The above link discusses some fruit variations and muddling lemon and lime in a traditional Margarita.
A little history from Wikipedia on both Margarita's and Cinco de Mayo.
And some more variations from Mr. Martini, who shares a recipe for Margarita Jello Shots. BTW, clicking on the episode title will open his Tequila podcast where you can learn some history and background on tequila and mezcal.
DrinkoftheWeek.com has a Cinco de Mayo drink as well:
2 1/2 oz. Tequila
1 oz. Grenadine
1 oz. Rose's Lime Juice
Combine with ice in a shaker and mix well. Strain into a chilled cokctail glass. Garnish with a wedge of lime.
and they also have an article about the $1,000 Mint Juleps that will be served tomorrow (Derby Day) to raise money for the Thoroughbred Retirement Foundation. The juleps "will be made with one of the world's best bourbons, produced by Woodford Brands, and served in a gold-plated cup with a silver straw. The mint will be brought in from Morocco, the ice will come from the Arctic Circle and the sugar from the South Pacific..." Zoiks!
I covered Mint Juleps last year at this time.
Cheers!
