American Idol meets Art?

In yet another reality TV show, BBC4 is searching for Britain's favorite painting. On the morning news show, they will ask viewers to submit suggestions for "their favourite painting from any currently hanging in a UK gallery or museum, regardless of the nationality of the artist or the period in which they worked." After that , they will have celebrities provide nominations and comments and start to whittle the list down. It's silly, and will probably yield some very bland painting, but putting art in the popular culture with discussion from non-experts might be a pretty decent thing.
